original 28in. nitro reproved (in 2019) Whitworth steel chopperlump barrels with side-ribs and broad raised matt top-rib, over barrel engraved 'BOSS & CO. 13. DOVER STREET. PICCADILLY. LONDON. W', and 'SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S PRESSED FLUID STEEL', 3in. chambers, choke inserts for 1/2 and true cyl. choke;
28in. new nitro chopperlump barrels (Boss serial numbers 9047 and 6872) with side-ribs and broad raised matt top-rib, over barrel engraved 'BOSS & CO. 41. ALBERMARLE STREET. LONDON. W.', 3in. chambers, bored approx. 1/2 and 1/4 choke, hold-open toplever, manual safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, incorporating Boss patent barrel locking action, patent no. 3307 of 10th February 1909, Boss patent improved ejector mechanism, patent no. 3308 of 10th February 1909, F. Beesley patent vertical top locking bolt, patent no. 22512 of January 9th 1913, rolled-edge triggerguard, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving, retaining traces of original colour-hardening, 15 1/2in. replacement semi-pistolgrip stock (triggerguard tang shortened) including 7/8in. rubber recoil pad, repair to fore-end wood, weight 8lb. 4oz., in a leather motor case with provision for two sets of barrels and with numerous labels and badges from Live Pigeon tournaments from the 1950's
Other Notes: The Beesley patent vertical top locking bolts are an exceptionally rare addition to Boss over and under guns. According to research carried out by Donald Dallas, they were used on just a limited number of Live Pigeon guns and double rifles.
